Community Programs
Compost Club YYC is a place to get your hands in the soil, learn about composting, and spend time with others who are curious about living processes. We meet regularly in gardens and shared spaces around Calgary.
Meetings are occurring weekly, as of May 2026. Please contact us for details and to receive updates.
We work with community gardens to make composting more practical, social, and educational. Together, we can develop hands-on workshops, source local organic materials, build compost piles using a variety of techniques, and help members learn how to use finished compost in the garden.
Whether your garden is just getting started or already has a compost system in place, we can help develop a simple plan that fits your site, season, and membership.
As part of the Compost Commons event series (March – June 2026), we’re piloting a bucket swap where bokashi composting kits are supplied to anyone who wants to collect food scraps at home. Come get your bucket, fill it up, and bring it back (or keep it for use in your home composting system or in your garden beds).
We’ve prepared a basic bokashi composting guide for participants. Please contact us for details about the program, including options for pickup/delivery, or to discuss a custom program for your community garden, place of work, condo, etc.
